Today, we’re at ZZAAM! Fresh Korean Grill here in Colonial Heights, Virginia, right by Petersburg and Richmond. First things first—let’s talk about that name: ZZAAM! Doesn’t it sound straight out of a ‘60s Batman episode? “KAPOW! ZZAAM! BONK!” Just hearing it makes you expect something exciting, and believe me, this place lives up to the hype.
So I came in right after lunch, not really sure what to expect, but I could tell right away I was in for a treat. The place is spacious, beautifully decorated, and has a vibe you just want to relax in. Perfect for a group hangout or a chill solo meal where you can just soak in the atmosphere without burning a hole in your wallet.
Let’s get to the food! I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry Bowl, and wow, that bowl was packed with flavor! The crispy katsu was perfectly balanced by the rich, savory curry sauce, and the whole thing felt light but still filling. Honestly, one of the best takes on katsu curry I’ve had outside of Japan. They really nailed it.
Then I tried the ribs, and let me tell you, I have no idea what sauce they use, but it’s some kind of sweet, savory magic that you have to taste to believe. And don’t even get me started on the Korean chicken wings—crispy, tender, with that sweet chili sauce that just makes each bite feel like a win. I think I just found my new wing spot.
Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying their Boba tea. The milk boba tea? Super refreshing and perfect with the meal. They also have a great selection of Kokee teas, and I tried a few different flavors.
So, if you’re ever around Colonial Heights and want some amazing Korean food, check out ZZAAM! Good vibes, great food, and a chill spot to hang. Until next time, keep munching, keep exploring, and I’ll catch you in the next one!
