The New York Peace Institute is essentially a giant joke at the public’s expense. They are not a legal entity or authority and they lack a very fundamental understanding of how lawful agreements and contracts work. Any time you spend with them would be wasted so I strongly recommend ignoring their calls. I had a mediation with them a day before I was to appear in court, during which the defendant and I made a verbal agreement that the defendant would provide me with certain documents / letters. We both agreed we would not appear at court the next day and of course the defendant completely ignored the verbal agreement and did not produce the documents/letters. No one from the NY Peace Institute warned me that unless an actual agreement or check were signed during the mediation it’s as if it never happened, and I that should certainly still appear in court. The Institute would not provide a record of the meeting or even admit the meeting took place and provide the names of the parties that were present in the meeting. Simply outrageous.
