Bukom Cafe is a place I visited the first time I came to DC in 2016. I loved the ambiance with life music as soon as you come in the door. Patrons were dancing and regulars seemed to be like extended family. The energy was lively and the food was great. Fast forward to 2019, I was taken to Bukom as a surprise by a good friend, but my inviter didn’t know that I had been there before. I have been there 5 times since 2019 and I have to say, the food is always good. I have had tried different other West African restaurants in the DMV area, but none of them could match them. Of course due to Covid things have changed, but you can still eat there with limited tables and the food is still unmatched! They never disappoint!

My favorite is the Okra soup with Banku, Beef Suya and the Spicy Pepper Soup!

This was my first time eating here and I thought the food was just wonderful. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They made sure our needs were met and even while the place was busy and their were o let two guys they did a fantastic job I would recommend this place again. Also the music was very nice and family friendly 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Ordered through uber eats ($11.49 fee). I had oxtail with rice, the food was good however there was more rice then anything. The order came with plantains (4 or 5), the oxtail was tender bit the portion wasnt very good for the cost. The flavors were more mild then expected.

Great place to go when you feel like dancing on a weekend night by yourself with no frills or fuss! This review is for the live music and night life vibes. I have never actually eaten there. I just walked in to dance numerous times and always enjoyed myself.

The food was AMAZING and the live reggae music Friday night had me coming back Sayurday night. I was looking for a place with good food and vibe and I found it here. No cover charge both nights, 21+. Dress was casual but I still dressed to impress. Rum punches were stronnggggg. Definitely returning here when I visit DC again.

I visited D.C for a weekend trip and we randomly discovered this restaurant as we were walking around looking for some African food.

It was closed when we initially got there so we decided to find somewhere else. As we were waiting outside for an Uber, the restaurant opened so we went in and we were very glad we did.

We were pleasantly surprised with the food and service. Our meal was delivered within 10 mins of ordering and it was cooked to perfection.

I definitely recommend trying the Suya and Oxtail. The Jollof rice and plantain were on point.

Highly recommend this place. I’ll certainly visit again next time I’m in D.C.
