Why did we choose the name Himalayan Wild Yak?
Yak is normally found in the Himalayan mountains. They also can be found in Nepal, Tibet, and Mongolia. Nepal is known as Himalayan country. This is how we get the name Himalayan Wild Yak. Yak was brought to Canada, then later to the United States. Now you can find many yak farms all around the U.S., especially in Colorado, Utah, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Pennsylvania. We get our yak from Pennsylvania.
What is a Yak?
Yak is similar to a bison or buffalo. It’s known as a mountain cow. It is said that they prefer higher elevation and a colder climate. Yaks are also very nutritious. They also have high amounts of omega three. Yak is said to be sweeter and not gamy.
Where is the food from?
Himalayan Wild Yak’s cuisine is influenced by Indian and Chinese spices, since Nepal is near China and India. We use these influences as a reference in making our own style of food. Nepal is home to plenty of great quality world class meals.
About our Restaurant
Our restaurant is a family owned restaurant. We have custom made dinnerware, solid oak tables, and national hand crafted napkins. We also have a cast iron from France that we use for an exclusive taste. Our trained chefs prepare delicious high quality home grown meals. We serve many drinks here. We have a versatile wine and tea list. We recommend our yak butter ghee. It’s made of butter that comes from yak. Yak butter has rich history throughout Nepal, The Himalayas and Mongolia. It has long been fuel of MT Everest climbers, taking them to the highest mountain on the planet. It is also a staple for Buddhist Monks. They sip on yak butter tea throughout the day. Traditionally salted, our unsalted yak ghee is robust in flavor as it is healthy.
