“Bar del 1820 donde respiras la historia de la ciudad de Barcelona, donde grandes artistas y bohemios se han dado cita con la absenta”
Must go to, incredible old atmosphere, from another time and space. Brings you back years to an old Barcelona that is quickly disappearing. Fact is that they maybe they could dust off some dirt around everything and all the old bottles that are spectacular. The ceiling paint falling in pieces is really not very cool or hygienic, just they need to do some dusting and painting and then 5 stars are deserved.
“Back to the future” a vintage bar in the heart of Raval. An iconic place. My first time has on 2015 and recently I have a pleasure to come back. Also, a place to taste absinthe 💚
the absinthe mojito here was on point, plus the bartender happily shared some history about the place. definitely recommend if you’re looking to take a step back in time for a good drink
Super nice place.
It’s the oldest in all Barcelona and it remained exactly how it was in 1820. Dali Picasso gaudi they all went there.
The prices are honest but don’t order the Sangria!!’ It’s ten euros
And it’s super famous for the absence that if you go you should try.

Peculiar old bar in the heart of the Raval where many stories will be told, the beauty of the interiors left to decay, the lights of the antique chandeliers, it looks like a novel, I don’t understand some reviews of people who complain about the bar in its objective sense, go and drink in some modern bar or some brunch restaurant, I’ll be back again and again 11/10
I tasted the best absynth ever. Bar with history and uncredible atmosphere!
Great place to drink wine or absinth like Picasso and Hemingway did. Authentic place, remainded almost the same like before.
Great bar with a laid back atmosphere. Nothing fancy, but a nice place to sit and chat. Really good prices for drinks
This is a marmite bar.. You will either love it or hate it. The interior of the bar has not seen a lick of paint or had any repairs in the last fifty years. The ceiling is peellng off and there are a lot of dusty relics. But l really loved this place and its disrepair added to the charm. It allegedly was a drinking haunt of Hemingway and Gaudi. The speciality of the bar is Absinthe and there are several variations. I had the Marsella which is 1 part Absinthe and 5 parts of iced water which is poured over a sugar cube. Although I’m not a big lover of aniseed type drinks l found it OK. Other drinks are available.
I’m surprised this place is not more crowed than it it. I went on a Friday night, it was full but there were not people waiting for a table. This is an historical place, many famous artists have been regular customers such as Picasso. Everything is left as it was almost 100 years ago, even the ceiling is tearing apart. A journey in the past.
